Shared Hope for Healing is a nonprofit organization located in Rickreall, Oregon.  Our mission is to explore, enhance and help people heal psychologically, emotionally, socially and spiritually by re-connecting to the restorative healing powers of nature.  We do this by offering nature-based therapies to include Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Personal Development, Art Therapy, Wilderness Exploration, Labyrinth Facilitation and Animal Therapy as stimulating adjunctive practices with traditional office based treatment.

Recent research in the field of eco-psychology and the “green” movement is suggesting that the problems facing our young and adults alike is a “disconnection” from the natural world.  The world of nature is alive with a flow and energy that restores a natural balance to those who live in harmony with it.  Our industrialized societies are removed from this flow and with it come an increase in mental, emotional and psychological health issues.  Dr. Dean O'Dell states in his radio addresses that “children with ADHD show a decrease in symptoms after taking a walk in nature and that nature appears to be able to help balance behaviors for better focusing skills”.

Programs that incorporate nature, art and animal therapies suggest that the ability to move treatment outdoors and into the natural world brings about an awareness of senses that lay dormant and are activated by being in nature.  Shared Hope for Healing is excited to be a part of this national trend.
